5 Easy and Affordable DIY Projects Anyone Can Do

When you’re buying a home, whether it’s real estate in Southwest Florida or Cincinnati, you’re probably also thinking of what it will look like once it’s yours. For many homeowners, personalizing their home is a huge part of the homeowning experience. Plus, that extra personal touch, from trendy decorating to DIY projects, gives you the chance to make your home inviting and interesting.

Now, as a Southwest Florida real estate agent, I’m all for home projects that are affordable. But I also know that many of my clients are still learning the ins and outs of being handy. So, I’ve put together this quick list of 5 projects that are relatively simple, straightforward, and anyone can do them… even if you haven’t picked up a hammer in a while.

Add a New Kitchen Faucet

Okay, let’s start somewhere fairly easy. I know many of the homebuyers in Southwest Florida that I work with enjoy beginning with a simpler project. And when it comes to changing out a kitchen faucet, you’ll find it’s not too challenging. At the same time, you’ll be adding an extra touch of refinement to your kitchen while gaining basic skills you can use in other projects.

Create Your Own, Stunning Headboard

If you’ve recently moved into a new home, and you’re not ready to buy a new bed, swapping out the headboard can be a fun project. Whether we’re talking about a natural slab of wood or an interesting fabric over a frame, this project gets you thinking style. And in reality, it’s not too challenging to create something that brings more detail to your sleeping area.

Replacing a Bathroom Vanity

If you’re a little handier, you can seriously upgrade your bathroom by replacing the vanity. As you can see from the tutorial, the project isn’t overly advanced, though it will require a little elbow grease. You’ll discover that this project is also affordable and can be done as a quick weekend project as well.

Upgrade Your Window Treatments

But let’s talk about another easy one that almost everyone can do, and that’s windows treatments. Instead of linking you to a tutorial for that one (since, in most cases, it’s pretty self-explanatory), I’m sharing some trending ideas with you instead. When you buy a home, one of the very first projects you can do to make it yours is adding your own window treatments.

Put in Simple Garage Storage

The Ana White site is filled with woodworking-related projects of various skill levels. And this is one of the easiest. Now, these shelves aren’t the most attractive thing you’ve ever seen, but when it comes to garage storage, you can’t have too much. In addition, they’re cost-effective, and when it comes down to it, do you really need amazingly attractive garage storage? These should do the trick just fine.
