When you’re buying a home, in Southwest Florida or Cincinnati, you’ll find that there’s many factors involved. Whether we’re talking about how much the property taxes are in an area or how long your commute will be, you realize how important many of these questions are.
And with that decision, you want to get the best advice from an experienced real estate voice. Of course, as Southwest Florida’s premier real estate agent, I’ve been buying and selling properties for decades. As your expert Realtor resource, I want to go beyond just a few tips to give you tools that allow you to assess any property. After all, this is what I do when I’m considering a property, so why shouldn’t you be able to do the same?
So, this week, we’re adding 4 more questions to our buying list. When you meet with your real estate agent, you’ll be able to use each of these to glean more information about a home and decide if it’s really right for you.
What major renovations have been done to the property?
From a new roof to an added Florida room, a home can be defined, in part, by what major renovations have been done to it. This question also helps you to know which areas to focus in on for additional questions, including the quality of work and who performed the renovation.
How long has the property been on the market?
When buying a home, in Southwest Florida or beyond, it’s also important to know how long it’s been on the market. This can give you insight into how motivated the seller is, as well as whether there may be larger concerns that have made other buyers shy away. Even though it may not be a deal breaker if a property has been sitting, it does give you more perspective.
When was the last time the property sold?
At the same time, knowing when the property sold previously is a helpful question for understanding the home’s history. It can also give you an idea of how the home has been cared for or whether there are other concerns you may want to inquire about.
What are the area amenities like?
Finally, don’t forget to ask your real estate agent about the area amenities. For homes in Southwest Florida, we might ask how far the closest beach is, for example. You could also ask about nearby shopping, dining, and entertainment options as well. This can give you an idea of whether the property will be in-line with your lifestyle, which is a big factor for many people.
