In our last article on holding your next successful real estate seminar, we saw how there’s a number of simple steps you can take to boost your seminar potential. From telling stories to considering what your audience knows, you have a starting point for holding an unbelievable event.

But once you’ve planned it all, what do you do when it’s your big day? As a successful real estate coach, I’ve seen it time and time again: An agent is so laser-focused on the prep work they did… they forget a few other pieces of advice that can make a big difference. Don’t worry though! Today, we’re going to run through some additional steps for the day-of-your next successful real estate seminar.

Hand out name tags and other materials

Although you don’t have to have name tags or supporting materials, they go a long way in a seminar. Using a PowerPoint presentation is great; however, those supporting materials help people to go back and reference more easily as you talk. And of course, everyone wants an easier way to remember names!

Make time for casual conversation

A successful seminar isn’t just about the topic; more importantly, it’s about meeting other like-minded people. So, be that connection for your seminar attendees. Even five minutes for everyone to talk can be beneficial and get people coming back for more events.

Let everyone briefly introduce themselves

Now, if you’re holding a seminar with hundreds of people, this one might be a step you skip. However, for seminars of even 20 or 30 people, everyone appreciates their 20 seconds. I often provide two easy questions for them to answer, so they can keep it short and sweet.

Ensure your lead sheet is front and center

Before anyone else arrives, be sure to set that lead sheet right out front, so no one can miss it. Encourage your attendees to add their information. Another fun tip is to let them know you’ll be sending an additional download afterward, enticing them to include all their information.

Prepare to answer that phone!

If you’re seminars are like mine, you’ll be getting calls afterward. You’ll probably also get a handful of emails. And that’s great! Just make sure you’re ready to answer your phone and check your inbox the next day after your event.

Plan to recharge afterward

In the real estate world, it seems we’re always told to be “on” at all times. But the reality is that we all have different personalities. There’s nothing wrong with recharging after a successful seminar. Once the questions are done and you’ve answered those emails, plan to re-gather your energy, whether for a few hours doing something you love or for a day or two.

Prep for your next successful real estate seminar

Right before one of my successful real estate seminars, I love to look over the materials for all my events. This is my way of doing light prep work for the next seminar. Maybe in planning this one, I’ve noticed something I’d like to refine in another. Or maybe I’d like to add a section to my conference next week. You can do that!

You don’t have to do your next seminar alone though. As your real estate coach, I’m always just an email away and would love to hear from you!

When it comes to investing in property, you might have wondered once or twice about the possibilities. You might have also wondered what it takes to become successful and what it might be like once you attain that success. And these are perfectly natural things to think about!

After becoming an accomplished, multi-millionaire investor, I took note of my journey. One of the reasons I’m publishing my upcoming book on real estate investing is to share what it took to get there. But today, I wanted to give you a sense of what it’s really like—not the sugar-coated version everyone else gives you, but the very real aspects that were part of that story. Let’s take a look!

You meet challenges head-on

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: anyone can attain financial freedom. But there’s a caveat. In my upcoming book, you’ll find my story of overcoming the challenges and enjoying the rewards. And in that story, you’ll also discover how important it is to meet your challenges head-on with your allies and partners. It’s a critical skill I’ve honed through the decades of real estate investment.

You’re always assessing and reviewing

Once upon a time, I carried my calculator with me everywhere. While we talk about why in my book, today, I’ve gotten so good at running numbers in my head that I don’t even need that calculator anymore. As a savvy real estate investor, I’ve developed the habit of regularly reviewing the data and the other information I like to collect during my research and home touring.

You’re regularly fielding investment questions

What’s the possible ramifications on real estate from a strengthening US dollar? Is the house next to mine really worth as much as they say it is? When should I upgrade my kitchen if I plan to sell my house in the next few years? These are just a few of the questions that I’m asked every single week. And because I provide individualized real estate coaching, it means that I want to know the specifics of your personal situation when I provide an answer. But for me, helping others attain their financial freedom is the most rewarding part of my coaching, whether you’re a seasoned Realtor or someone totally new to investing.

You learn to step back and take time for yourself

When you get a taste for success in investment, it’s hard to make it go away. And that’s because it’s an incredibly exciting profession. Still, as much as you enjoy it, you have to step back occasionally. This way, you can gain perspective and regroup for your next investment decision. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to do so every day, but I recommend doing what works for you.

You enjoy financial freedom that you never thought possible.

Still, as you’ll find out in my upcoming book, I started out as a single mom. If you had told me today that I’d be a multi-million-dollar real estate investment coach… I don’t know what I’d say. But here I am. And it’s been a liberating feeling that’s so hard to describe.

Interested in feeling liberated yourself? You don’t have to wonder, because you have a trusted real estate coach with real-world experience. Keep an eye out for my upcoming book, and in the meantime, shoot me an email with any questions you have!

As a national keynote speaker for real estate and investing, I love sharing what I’ve learned after several rewarding decades in the business. And while speaking at many seminars and workshops, I’ve met so many of you who also have plenty to share. From what you’re seeing in your local market to tips on buying and selling, you likely have more to pass on to an audience than you realize.

But where do you start when it comes to setting up a successful real estate seminar? As a real estate coach who works with other Realtors to realize their goals, I’m always excited to help with this question. Although these steps today aren’t the entire story, they represent a good place to start when you’re ready to launch your next seminar, for your own real estate team or even your friends and family!

Choose a topic you know well

For your first, or following seminars, it pays to choose a topic you’re most familiar with. Why can’t you choose something you might not know as well, but could research? Although you could do this, you want to build your seminar skills for right now and focusing on your strengths makes that easier.

Consider what your audience knows and needs

Too often, a seminar speaker might not take time to think about their audience. Is your seminar filled with industry jargon that your audience might not know? What if your seminar only hits the surface for an audience that’s familiar with the topic? Review your topic to determine what’s most relevant for them.

Sketch out your outline

An outline might sound like a simple step to a successful real estate seminar, but many people don’t even bother. Now, you don’t have to create a complex roadmap, but a simple outline can help you keep the discussion moving forward.

Choose your venue carefully

When you go with a professional conference room, even a small one, you’re probably going to be fine. And while coffee shops or other venues might be good for casual conversation, you most likely want a private space that’s comfortable for your audience.

Send out an invitation… and a reminder

A formal invitation and a reminder before the event can go a long way to having a successful real estate seminar. Make sure you include all the relevant information your audience will need to attend. You can also personalize these in small ways to up the chances that you’ll get a solid crowd.

Use visual aids and tell stories

No one likes a boring seminar, and I’m sure we’ve all been to one (or many) on real estate. But for your next real estate seminar, you want to focus on engagement. This way, people walk away with something valuable they can put to use. Visual aids and stories go a long way to making this happen.

Practice and relax

I like to run through my presentation a few times alone or before a test audience before going live. This helps iron out any creases and helps you stay calm. It also improves the chances that your real estate seminar will be a success.

But I’d love to hear from you, what would you recommend for a successful seminar? Share this in the comments, and if you’d like an extra tip or two, feel free to email me!

In our last article on real estate mentors, we looked at a few different benefits that your coach can bring to the table. From tapping their experience in multiple real estate cycles to gaining inspiration, your coach is a huge resource. And you can take advantage of this unique relationship to boost your career even more.

But we’re not done just yet. In fact, there are several more characteristics to keep an eye out for when it comes to choosing a real estate coach. Each one of these can be of great benefit to you, whether you’re just starting your career in real estate, or you’re ready to take it to the next level.

You can trust them because they’re transparent and approachable

Honesty. It’s an important word in any industry, but especially in an industry built on relationships like real estate and investment. Your word can be as good as gold or… well, you get the point. When you choose a real estate coach, you want someone who you can trust. But that’s not the end of the story. I’d also recommend someone who’s approachable and transparent. What do I mean by that?

They don’t have to be an extrovert necessarily, and they can even be very direct and to-the-point when needed, for example. However, you should be able to connect with your mentor. At the same time, they should be willing to be open with you instead of hiding information.

You can forge a partnership with them that boosts your momentum

Your partnership with your mentor is just that… a partnership. When you meet the right real estate coach, they should help boost your existing momentum. Equally true, your natural talents should be part of the conversation too. After all, real estate is not a one-size-fits-all industry. Your real estate mentor should take time to hone in on what your potential is for the future. This way, your momentum grows in the direction you want to take it.

You can increase your exposure through their network

Has your real estate agent done countless deals? Are they plugged into a network of vendors, investors, clients, and other agents? Have they published any books or been a keynote speaker? These questions matter when choosing a real estate coach. Through their network, you’re increasing your own exposure and aligning yourself alongside their success.

So, you want to ensure they have the authority to go along with that level of trust. Now, that doesn’t mean they must know everyone in every part of the industry. The quality of relationships often beats the quantity. So, this is one area to pay special attention to when you’re assessing a new real estate mentor.

Need a hand finding a real estate coach or mentor? I have decades of experience working in the industry and with other agents. Shoot me an email to talk about what might be right for you!
